It’s Christmas Time…

Christmas Doors

Bucks fizz breakfasts, lounging around in pyjamas until midday, numerous visits to the cheeseboard and lunch with the in-laws. Comfort is king this time of year, and elasticated waistbands a necessity for embracing the gluttony of Christmas. Here’s what I’d love to be packing for my festive break…

Christmas Eve

We tend to spend Christmas eve visiting family, meeting friends at the pub before going somewhere local for dinner. This put- together look would be perfect for all of the above, and would work just as well with a simple black mini skirt, tights and black ankle boots as an alternative to the leather trousers and heels if they’re a bit fancy for your local.

Christmas Morning

Arriving home on Christmas eve, slipping on these silky PJ’s and cashmere socks, and playing competitive boardgames with my brothers in front of the fire with mulled wine in hand – that’s my plan this year. And because I can never sleep anywhere other than my own bed, I’ll be taking along extra help in the form of this silky eyemask, This Works pillow spray (which makes a great gift BTW), and my favourite Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay in handy travel candle form. While I’m normally an old t-shirt and pair of pants girl at home, opening presents with the family, and having a slow, lazy start to the day requires comfy pyjamas and these are a great option from TopShop that won’t break the bank.

Christmas Day

A big chunky jumper to cover the turkey tummy, and a leather skirt with adjustable waistband. Pair with black tights, ankle boots and a long tailored coat if you’re leaving the house. I love this low key but smart look and this is my ideal jumper right now. Cosy, really good quality, instantly adds interest to an otherwise all black outfit. I’d just have to be extra careful not to drop cranberry sauce on it.

Boxing Day

It’s tradition in my family to wrap up warm on boxing day, come rain or shine, and head out into the Yorkshire countryside to walk off the Boxing Day buffet. The boots and body below are definitely on the spendy side, but I’ve found similar high street alternatives here, and here. This coat is a great find form Topshop, and the trainers are from Veja,  a cool brand I recently came across who’s whole ethos is around an eco-friendly manufacturing process and supply chain – something more and more fashion brands are becoming conscious of. They’re well worth checking out, and they have a range of vegan shoes, which would make an awesome gift.
